Cloud-to-Edge computing is a fundamental shift in architectural thinking to today's infrastructure. The seamless integration of cloud-scale analytics and edge-responsive execution is becoming a must-have technology and a research frontier as the next generation of applications seek ever greater responsiveness, intelligence, and agility. This book covers the architectures, enabling technologies, resource management approaches, and security frameworks needed for successful cloud-edge integration in a systematic manner. Seven chapters take the reader from theory to practice and explore new areas such as the metaverse, autonomous systems and smart infrastructure. This work builds on existing research work and industry advances, while also incorporating critical reviews of new challenges. Every chapter has the same academic rigor but is accessible to researchers, practitioners and advanced students. The outcome is an all-in-one reference that stimulates theoretical advancements as well as the practical implementation of the integrated cloud-edge systems for next-generation applications.
