The rapid evolution of global Logistics, accelerated by digital disruption and shifting geopolitical landscapes, necessitates a fundamental transformation of national logistics systems. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the global trends and future strategic directions shaping next-generation logistics, with particular emphasis on Indonesia's economic and infrastructural context. Logistics is positioned as a critical economic backbone, contributing significantly to national GDP; however, Indonesia's current ranking of 63rd on the global Logistics Performance Index reveals persistent gaps in customs efficiency, infrastructure quality, and tracking capabilities compared to regional counterparts. The study identifies three core strategic imperatives driving the sector's future: digital transformation, sustainability, and resilience. Technological integration—including Logistics 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, autonomous robotics, digital twins, and artificial intelligence—is examined as the primary catalyst for operational visibility, predictive decision-making, and hyper-connectivity. Concurrently, the paper addresses the urgency of environmental stewardship through fleet electrification, alternative fuels, circular economy frameworks, and stringent Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance. Furthermore, it analyzes supply chain resilience strategies, such as diversification, near-shoring, and agile reconfiguration, to mitigate systemic vulnerabilities exposed by recent global disruptions. The analysis also highlights the human capital dimension, emphasizing workforce upskilling, cognitive augmentation, and ethical AI governance as prerequisites for successful technological adoption. Finally, the paper underscores the necessity of academia-industry collaboration and interdisciplinary research to bridge theoretical innovation with scalable industrial application.
